Automotive Apprentice of the Year Program

We know that the smash repair industry is not immune to the skills shortage happening across Australia and we hope that programs such as this will help to retain the apprentices we already have and make the industry an attractive career option for school leavers.

Employers or Registered Training Organisations were encouraged to nominate high performing apprentices from within our repairer network to receive $5,000 for ongoing training and career development, and we received more than 50 outstanding applications. Nominations closed in December 2008 and the three stage assessment process was a challenge for our panel of industry judges.

The applicants were judged on their technical skills, ongoing personal development, customer service delivery and their contribution to the community and environment.

We are very pleased with the calibre of applications in the first year of the Apprentice of the Year program. On behalf of the organisation, I would like to congratulate all of our successful applicants and wish them great success in their endeavours. Each of our winners demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the repair industry, an excellent skill base and a desire for ongoing self-development.
